Our Story

Minilu Kids represents the fulfillment of a dream to create high-quality, handmade clothing for children. For as long as I can recall, my mother has crafted our clothing, primarily for her three daughters, and later on for the youngest child as well. Eventually, I began making my own clothes, which I believe brought relief to my mom. She taught me the fundamentals and instilled in me the importance of taking pride in my sewing, ensuring it's always impeccably neat. That principle has stayed with me ever since.

My inspiration is drawn from three unique granddaughters, forever interwoven into my business's name: Mïla, Nina, and Luna-lief.

The vibrant and richly hued Shweshwe fabrics have captured my heart. Their 100% cotton composition makes them perfect for children to frolic and play, adorned like tiny rainbows. Encourage your children to embark on adventures, to discover and learn from nature, all while nurturing a spirit of kindness within them.

For children who prefer less vibrant attire, I incorporate a hint of soft and subtle colors using double muslin fabrics, reminiscent of a cloudy winter sunset.

Due to the high volume of inquiries about women's clothing in Shweshwe, we've expanded our collection to include playful items like dungarees, summer shorts, and pinafore dresses. These are great for coordinating outfits with your children.

We dedicate meticulous attention to each item we create, guaranteeing a garment of superior quality. Clothe your children in our cozy, 100% cotton ensembles and watch them enjoy playtime!

Our goal is to primarily source fabrics made in South Africa, such as Shweshwe from Zwelitsha EC and the brushed fleece and ribbing from Cape Town.

My delightful models are often my grandchildren, particularly Luna, as she lives nearby. Occasionally, I must entice her with a cookie to get her to dress up; she tends to refuse by saying "no-no" as soon as she spots me with an outfit. The joys of the little ones! Recently, however, Luna, who is now three, has realized the joy of dressing up in clothes she adores.
